TEXAS MANUFACTURERS TO HOST FIRST-EVER ENERGY SUMMIT
Historic Gathering of Energy Producers, State Leaders and Business Consumers

Austin, TX The Texas Association of Manufacturers (TAM) is hosting the first-ever Texas Energy Summit, an historic gathering of energy consumers, state policymakers and producers, in Houston, Texas on November 16-17. The purpose of the Summit is to bring together manufacturers, energy experts, utility executives, government officials, and business leaders to promote a dialogue and foster greater consensus regarding energy challenges and opportunities in Texas.

"Energy is the lifeblood of Texas manufacturing and beyond," said Tony Bennett, chairman of TAM. "Energy costs and reliability directly impact the ability of Texas to prosper and compete in the global marketplace," he said. According to Mr. Bennett, "the recent concerns over energy prices and the sufficiency of supply made it essential for TAM to host this important event."

Expert speakers and policymakers will lead the Summit¹s agenda, which includes electricity marketplace issues, coal generation in Texas, future prospects for nuclear power and natural gas, and renewable energy solutions. Leading officials, including key legislators, the Chairs and members of the Railroad Commission, the Texas Public Utility Commission, and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality are expected.

"TAM¹s intention is to attract broad interests and diverse perspectives to the Energy Summit so our dialogue is robust and productive," said Bennett. "Never before have energy consumers, producers and experts worked together with such dedicated focus to create solutions that will keep Texas strong and moving in the right direction."

The Texas Energy Summit will take place at the InterContinental Hotel in Houston, Texas. For more information and to register, please visit www.manufacturetexas.org.
